Character Background

Out of the DarknessIsiolia's story begins with her Duskwight bloodline, born of darkness below the surface. Her great-grandmother escaped the magical calamity and collapse of the underground city of Gelmorra. While tales of her bloodline are mysterious at best, her grandmother was descended from a line of Duskwight bards who specialized in the lost ancient music and art style of the Duskwight. Many of Isiolia's musical influences are a blend of Duskwight and Wildwood cultural influences. Her great-grandmother's escape from the city of Gelmorra remains cryptic, at best, but rumors of a generational curse remain present within the Nightstar bloodline.

Into the Light

Born of a Duskwight mother and Wildwood father, Isiolia's origins are controversial and it began with the love story of her parents. Her mother was a bardess living in New Gridania and she often sang Lia to sleep with her soothing voice. Her father, a traveling astrologian, hailed from a mage order in Sharlayan. The two met on a fateful summer evening during the course of her father's travels and he fell for the sound of her mother's voice.Against all odds, the two fell deeply in love and her father sought a way to lift the dark curse of the Nightstar bloodline. The couple lived peacefully in Gridania with their three daughters until an illness began sapping the vitality of their mother. While the three girls received an excellent education, their upbringing often struck hatred and fear from the locals because of the rumors of dark magic and curses impacting the family. The little family thrived despite the circumstances, but soon after, their mother passed, as no healer or mage was able to cure her illness. About a decade later, Isiolia's father passed away from the heartbreak of losing his mate and the mother of his children, leaving Isiolia as the eldest of house Nightstar and her two younger twin sisters, Saelihn and Halaema as heirs.

The Later Years

After the death of their parents, Isiolia and her siblings decided on two different paths in life. The twins decided to stay behind in Sharlayan to continue their fathers' research and their training as mages and astrologians in a local scholar order. While Isiolia stayed with her sisters for a time, she began to feel wanderlust and curiosity about the rest of the world.A few years later, Isiolia decided to visit her friends in Eorzea and she's been wandering ever since then. Her journey continues to this day, exploring local taverns, nightclubs, stores, and places to enjoy or play her music to a willing audience. However, a darker story seems hidden within the family's history and perhaps even Isiolia's own.Salon Incident Gone Wrong?!Isiolia recently returned from a chaotic magical incident and the Elezen magically transformed into a Viera, much to her chagrin and annoyance. Ever since she's been trying to adapt to her newfound frame and body. Feeling very much out of her element, the bardess has been diligently researching with her sisters some ways to turn herself back into an Elezen. But, she's beginning to wonder if life as a Viera suits her better.Into Shadows and Moonlight:Isiolia has moved forward to live her life as a Viera, acknowledging her transformation fully and accepting herself as she is. She has begun her foray into her curse, her inner self, and her discovery of the world around her. The bardess explores the underground world around her. So begins her foray into the shadows, the dream world and between the stars, perhaps even beyond.

  • ○ A'ce Mystlight: Isiolia's best friend, roommate, and business partner have long been old friends from their adventures in Gridania. Isiolia enjoys spending time with A'ce, the two are usually seen bantering playfully and in friendly discussions. Isiolia respects the former paladin's hardworking and jovial nature.

  • ○ Sienna Mystlight: A'ce's wife and new friend of Isiolia's, she fully supports the couple and their endeavors. Sienna is currently away on an important mission, but Isiolia intends to keep A'ce out of trouble in the meantime; at least, as much as she's able to.
